Former teenage beauty queen, named after the department store Halle, (HAL-ee) Brothers, who gave up a successful modeling career to become an actress in the late 1980s.

Halle got her first break starring, appropriately enough, as a teenage model on the 1989 TV series, Living Dolls. Her harrowing performance as a crack addict in her first feature, Spike Lee's Jungle Fever (1991), proved she was not just another model-turned-actress.

That same year Berry landed her first starring roles: as a femme fatale in the romantic comedy Strictly Business and as Damon Wayans' stripper girlfriend in The Last Boy Scout. Berry has also played a recurring role on the TV perennial, Knots Landing. 1991
